The Etolia Fund invests in leadership infrastructure across the American South and Appalachia, particularly in communities that have historically been excluded from philanthropic capital, visibility, and decision-making. We exist to move money toward people and places that have long powered progress, but too rarely been trusted to lead it.
Funded through the profits of KMSG, Etolia was created to redistribute resources, not just donate them. We support early-stage leaders, organizations, and initiatives that are building durable, community-rooted change in regions shaped by structural disinvestment, cultural extraction, and policy neglect.
We prioritize unrestricted, trust-based giving to support the long-term sustainability of grantees. Our model is simple: general operating support, minimal application burden, no reporting requirements.
We look for leadership that is proximate, accountable, and grounded in the lived realities of the communities it serves. This includes organizers, artists, youth leaders, educators, health advocates, and others building capacity across equity movements.
Since 2022, The Etolia Fund has directed more than $125,000 to nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, and community efforts aligned with our values. Our advisory team includes funders, nonprofit leaders, cultural strategists, and community organizers who share a commitment to equity, proximity, and shared power.
